Christie Sausa

She/Her

I'm a journalist, published author, and competitive athlete based in Lake Placid, NY. I've spent 25 years figure skating and speed skating, and I still compete as an adult.

For close to two decades, I told other people's stories — sports profiles, community journalism, correspondent work that turned into a book on Lake Placid figure skating history (History Press, 2012). I still freelance for outlets like Adirondack Explorer. But most of my writing has turned inward.

I was diagnosed with ADHD twice. I identify as neurodivergent and/or AuDHD (ADHD and autistic).

At Not Your Average Athlete, I'm writing in real time about three things: learning to be seen instead of just performing, challenging beliefs about myself I've carried since I was a teenager on the ice, and getting back in shape — sustainably, without the crash-diet-then-binge pattern I used to mistake for discipline.

On Medium, I write shorter, sharper pieces on AuDHD and daily life for people who want something they can use today. The ADHD Tarot is where I turn tarot into a practical self-awareness tool for neurodivergent brains — no mysticism required.
